Learn How A Digital Camera Works

By Vincent Schwartz

Digital photography is very easy and can be accomplished even by complete amateurs in varying situations. There is a huge range of cameras on the market ranging from simple, point-and-shoot cameras to feature rich, mirror cameras for expert use. Many producers are offering their products at all price levels.

The price and the characteristics determine the quality of a digital camera and its set of standard. Normally, the accessories supplied with this include: battery and charger or replaceable AA batteries, memory card, audio/video cable to enable connecting this camera to the TV, USB cable and installation disk to ensure compatibility with PC and a special napkin for the maintenance of the digital device.

Customers are advised to check up availability of all essential supplementary items on making a purchase. If a camera is not equipped with inbuilt automatic shutters, it is important to attach a lid to your camera with the help of special strap in order not to lose it.

The very first thing you need to do to start the camera is press the "ON" button after charging it. You will know that it is ready for action once the lens zooms out. A standard digital camera has many functions depending on its model but some of them are standard functions, which are present on almost every camera. These standard functions consists of "ON/OFF" button to either activate or deactivate the camera, "Menu" button to perform a required function, "Zoom" to change the focal power of the camera, "Scope" button to look at the saved pictures and finally a "Snap" button to click the photos.

Unlike ordinary camera, digital type involves use of a snap button for two times. First time pressing involve subject focus, exposure, and data display on LCD screen. Second time pressing involve confirmation of shot. Besides, one can also set manually functions like zoom, good exposure etc., for picture perfect photographs, using a menu screen.

Normally "Zoom" function has got two positions: a) zoom defocusing b) activation of digital zoom. First position makes the objects visually closer; the second one makes them visually remote. "Scope" function allows viewing taken shots with the purpose of either saving or deleting them.

After taking a photo you can download it to PC or view by inserting a memory card into a slot.
