What's the latest news in the UAE? This article should give you some ideas of the current UAE news so go on reading...
Beginning with Dubai news, the government is recently paying attention to bootleggers known for engaging in illegal liquor trade. Lead by Khalid Salem Selaiteem, the Environmental Emergency office tries to put a stop to the selling of approximately 200,000 bottles of prohibited liquor. This is particularly because of the escalating crime incidence among illegal merchants. Even though this type of business stays attractive because of the big earning potential it has, the escalating rivalry in this market generates tension, strong enough to force a bootlegger to eliminate his tight competitors. Just this year 2011, an Indian bootlegger was placed on the death row after proven guilty of burying 2 of his strongest competitors alive in the desert. Selaiteen and his team are working really hard to put an end on this illicit market. The team is positive that they will fully achieve such mission by 2012. They also warned future bootleggers not to get engage into this kind of business.
On the brighter side of UAE news, Kim Kadarshian, a famous TV host, is so excited about her first time in Dubai. She revealed her love for Middle Eastern food, and really looking forward to tasting the native food there. Kim also mentioned her possible plans of starting an establishment there-perhaps a new clothing line? The happnenings on the said vacation will be shown on her show, "Keeping Up With The Kadarshians". And that's the recent update for Dubai News.
Moving on to Abu Dhabi, five people failed to show up in a trial, after being sued for writing online comments that jeopardize peace and public order. Their comments on blogs also imply their disagreement with the administration and insulting the president. Regardless of their absence, the trial continued on last October 2. An official of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority allegedly testified about the comments supposedly made by the five accused men.
Meanwhile, still in Abu Dhabi, a posh hotel is facing charges from a woman, claiming that they must be responsible for her accident in 2008 while she was checked in at the hotel. The said hotel is none other than Emirates Palace, and the person who filed lawsuit is Natalie Smith. According to Natalie, she was opening the cupboard in the room where she stayed when something hard and heavy fell and hit her head. Due to that incident, the woman had post-traumatic epilepsy, a condition that prohibits her to be on her own while crossing the road or when taking a bath. Therefore, she asks a whooping Dhs 20 million as a compensation for her spouse quitting their business in order to care for her. While this case is still on-going, the director of Emirates Palace refused to comment on the matter.
