Knowing How To Spot Offensive T-Shirts

By Sharlene Fleming

For decades now there have been offensive t-shirts at every outlet someone can find. The social media and very conservative people determine what garment is negative to others. Writings on a piece of clothing may be okay to one person but hurtful to another.

People often use these wordings on clothes to express the way they feel about the media, politics, education, sex or any other well known organization. An expression of words has always been used since the beginning of time and now the clothing industry has found a way to make a profit on people's feelings.

Writings on garments that causes chaos for the media would showcase certain slants about radio or television stations within the community. These writings may also slur certain media stars or personalities also. Stating that certain stations "sucks" would be an obvious offense towards the broadcast industry. When individuals boycott certain media outlets they also wear these items with negative print on them.

Political outlets also face the opinions from the concerned citizens through negative advertisement on these garments. Elections are the best time for people to show their dislike of a candidate and his/her issues. They may have statements written that a politician is too radical or too moral to lead. The wars of the past have also seen the harm that these writings can do. During the Vietnam war soldiers were often criticized through these items.

Every person has his/her candidate that they admire or hate. Politics can become an ugly business in many countries and these items give a person total control of their thoughts on the matter. Sometimes though the writings can bring about fights or arguments if someone else disagrees with what it is saying.

Educators also face the world of negative backlash when it comes to these garments. A student who did not do well at an institution may want to ridicule the school by saying the place is "lame". Professors and staff members may also be attacked by these writings.

Sex has always been a popular subject to place on these items also. Some individuals wearing the items may think of them as being funny and not destructive at all. Some of them are very explicit in nature and they may have sketches to go along with them. The creators of the item are sure to "laugh all the way to the bank, " because of this. Some of the material sheds a bad light on women or may even spew hate upon others.

Politics, personal or simple revenge may be the answer to why individuals would wear these items. They are even more popular in our culture as they were many years ago and people know that they can make money from slander. Profits for these offensive t-shirts are sure to increase during times of crisis and war. They are also a reminder to people when election time is near since they are worn to show support or hatred for certain politicians. The garment industry also realizes when dealing with sex, politics or religion, controversy will begin. These subjects are a great seller and they know it.
