Make Little Girls Skirts Pop Using These Methods

By Celia Hall

Getting the children ready for school these days can involve a few clashes when fashion is involved. Children of all ages are influences by the days fashions and even the young ones want to look extra special. There are many ways to creatively make little girls skirts look great.

In today's economic climate, shopping for kids clothing can be a rather expensive aspect of your budget. This may well be the best time to get those creative juices working and make your own clothes. A great skirt can be made from a really simple pattern. You needn't be a pro seamstress but with a little bit of effort, you can easily make great, unique items for your children.

When in doubt- add shiny embellishments. Any tedious piece of clothing can be revitalized with embellishments, rhinestones, beads or studs. They are easily available at most arts and craft stores. They can be purchased individually and attached later to make your items more interesting. Handheld machines that can attach these are sold in these stores too. It would be a great investment because you'll use in over and over, making those great designs.

You usually use ribbons to accessorize your hair. However, they can also be used on dresses and skirts as sashes or belts. Moreover, they could be attached with glue or sewn on. The easy part is that they come in various colors, textures and shapes. Creatively using ribbons to form shapes and patterns will instantly make your child's skirt look trendy and fashionable.

Cartoon characters are a great hit with children, from toys to clothes too. However, they are known to be very expensive. Thankfully, iron on cartoon characters can be purchased to help you out. An ordinary, plain skirt can be transformed into a trendy item by ironing on cartoon characters. These iron-on embellishments are also available in different types of beading or sequined fabric to make your skirt dazzle.

A good party dress needs color and volume. Adding volume is as easy as using an old tutu or attaching various layers of colorful fabrics to the bottom of the skirt. You can easily achieve a trendy feel to the dress, while still making it easy to move around. These many options should make it a lot easier to think out the box.

These enhancements are easy enough to be made by girls themselves. So, get them involved in this process. It is a great way to get them creatively involved in making their own clothes and creating their own interesting designs. On top of that, it's a great distraction from TV or the internet.

So, instead of heading off to buy brand clothing each month, get creative and make your own. You'll find that material shops have a lot of great ideas and stuff you can include to other items in your closet. Who knows? You may be really good at it and find yourself making little girls skirts for other families too.
