By Edward Woo

Creating your own podcast is quite easy whether you are proposing it as a DIY with the help of an audio editor and a website or if you use another person to create it and host it for you. A Podcast is actually creation of a piece of audio programming which anyone can access on demand.

In the beginning many used to just subscribe to a podcast and would receive the audio program on his computer. Now you have to submit your audio file to a website and users can click on your podcast to listen to it. Many browsers are capable of handling as well as streaming an audio file when they click on it.

Once you have learnt to know basically how to podcast then there are various other levels of complex podcasting. The audio content is actually heard with the help of RSS which the end user can use to control when and what they want to listen to. Podcasts are very useful in cases of music demos or even for giving training and instructions. An MP3 file has to be attached in the enclosure tag.

Learning how to podcast is simple by following these steps. Give you new podcast a general title and a description of the audio content. Also enter the URL or website connected with your podcast. Next, start giving details of the items in it by selecting the item button and then give the title and description of the item along with the URL details. You have to go to the optional tag and select the enclosure where you will enter the URL of the MP3 or the audio file of the music or other content. Other details regarding the file size, the format and the audio have to be entered after which you can FTP it to your server after saving it.

People who have created podcasts or those have websites which host podcasts can also get listed in podcast directories. Here they have to select the category under which they want their podcast to be listed and also give the URL. The podcast directory provides lists and one can choose according to cities, languages, formats. Ratings are also to be seen here. You can also add, remove or search for a podcast here.
