Let's come clean, we women love celebrity mags. We like to read about what they're doing, and we love to look at photos of them. It feels like they must have accessibility to the best that money can buy- things that us simple mortals can't even imagine. So let's take a look at what kinds of skin care treatments they're pursuing and if they're ridiculous or great.
Great
According to Glamour Magazine, there's a trend among celebs to stop doing crazy cosmetic procedures such as surgery and to start looking after their skin. That suggests that they are no longer baking in suntan booths, but instead are using sunscreen to shield their faces from the damaging UVA rays of the sun. In addition they are using face care products packed with anti oxidising compounds such as vitamin E, vitamin C and vitamin A. This is superb news. As a society we are apt to need quick fixes to issues instead of taking preventative action to prevent a problem from occurring in the 1st place. Acting to care for our skin and forestall Problems is a great step in the right path.
Ridiculous
And now for the silly. Some procedures may intrinsically work but for their prices they're getting a vote in the "ridiculous" class. One of them is an acne treatment called photodynamic treatment and it costs an enormous $2,500 to $4,000 per session! Of course nobody likes to have acne, but paying thousands of bucks to zap a few blemishes is unspeakable. The process involves spreading an amino acid gel on the face and then zapping it with a blue light. It can take up to an hour to turn on the amino acid, so this is not a fast 5 minute process either.
Another procedure that appears totally pointless is microdermabrasion. These treatments costs masses of bucks and must be done in a dermatologist's office. They use little crystals to shine off the top layers of skin of the face, and sometimes follow it up with creams and serums. I am not intrinsically against microdermabrasion, but unless you've a lot of money to throw around, it isn't worth it. As an alternative try using a simple Buff Puff each day with your favorite cleanser. It will get rid of the dead epidermis cells on your face and inspire new expansion. Consistent use will not just keep your face fresh and fresh, it'll also help in keeping it unmarked. To my mind it's the best skin therapy regimen out there.
There are a lot of other treatments out there costing loads of greenbacks, but actually, is it required? A little prevention will go a long way. Don't smoke, wash and moisturize your face daily and eat plenty of fruit and vegetables. Remember that skin health does not just happen on the surface of the skin, it happens from in the interior out.
