Buying The Right Cheerleader Shoes

By Lou Prince

Cheerleaders the world over know full well that they need to be wearing all the right stuff in order to impress and be safe. However, one major thing is often overlooked: cheerleader shoes. People will spent hours deliberating over the cut and color of costumes and uniforms, and have heated debates over accessories, but overlook what they wear on their feet.

Such a casual approach to something of such importance can have disastrous effects. Cheerleading is not a casual sport: it is a strenuous, serious sporting activity which puts a lot of strain on all parts of the body, including the feet. If someone does not have the right kind of footwear on, it can be terrible for them. Ill fitting footwear can cause blisters and rubbing, open sores and more.

Correct footwear is one of the most important things a person can choose. Professional athletes are careful in their consideration of what they wear on their feet. There is no reason that those leading the cheers on the sidelines should be any different.

Such a shoe ought to fit correctly and be comfortable enough to wear for long periods of high stress. Moreover, it needs to be supportive in order to deal with the rigors of a cheerleading routine. This, more than anything, requires a decent grip on the sole of the shoe.

It is a strange dichotomy. People will do anything to make sure that the shoe they wear every day all day is comfortable, snug and well fitting. But when it comes to an activity which puts undue pressure on feet, they will make do with any old footwear.

Cheerleader shoes need to be comfortable, well fitting and feel right, above all else. If they do not, there are serious health implications which can affect a person in the long term. Therefore it is an important decision to make.
