How Important Is Turban Tying To Several Cultures

By Margarita Joseph

There are numerous types of accessories that you may pick from to keep your head protected from many things. Turbans are the ones known to be famous with many people. You can get one yourself in numerous stores in your location. After buying one, then you may proceed to learning different turban tying methods for fun and just for the sake of trying something new.

It is also necessary for people to know the kinds of turbans that have been used due to several reasons. In every location, the style and the color symbolizes a uniqueness to them. Some pieces are worn when people mourn over someone while the rest can be used during celebrations over events in the the life of its wearer.

There is also a possibility that the headgear can look unique compared to others since others are not allowed to wear them. The reason for this is that some are only made intentionally depending on the degree, social status and race of the wearer. To say it simply, someone interested in wearing it has to consider something first.

In Egypt, the individuals who believe in Mohammed would typically wear one over a skullcap that they call tarboosh. Some Indians also have this kind and they display it with the use of a scarf. Those who believe in Hinduism would shaved their heads first before using this type of turban.

As what was mentioned awhile ago, the styles of the turbans when worn can also depend on the events that take place in the lives of a person. In times of mourning, the ones that can be worn are those that have muted colors and are plain. This is just the same as the Western tradition of dressing up in black in funerals.

In the case of weddings, shiny fabrics as well as those embellished with some jewels are often used. The only difference is seen in the styles of wrapping them in the heads of the wearers. These styles may somehow be different depending on the region where the wearer is located.

To add to those things mentioned, these turbans are also a staple in a lot of ceremonies and rituals. One of the events wherein they are worn by attendees is called the Pagri Rasam ceremony. It is normally observed in Northern India as well as in Pakistan. A newly appointed elder is going to wear one in the presence of his family.

For people who are not aware, Pagri Rasam is observed to commemorate the passing of the responsibility of the elder who passed away to someone new. There is also another thing that needs to be considered by people when they try to acquire one for themselves. They should know that their colors can also mean something.

You may also know the status of someone who is wearing a turban based on its color. If turbans are exchanged, that could mean that an event has been symbolized. The styles that are applied in turban tying can also be vary on their locations and cultures. It is best to think about things before purchasing one for yourself.
