By Farah Fan

Street music, hip hop and rap, isn`t merely a form of music, it`s a lifestyle. It`s a lifestyle full of original components, and it`s also a place where people can present others what they got and who they may be. Within this original society called hip hop, there are basically four main elements of MC, Break, Tag, and DJ. MC-ing is what individuals know as rapping. The main point of an MC is to build your crowd enjoy your music, and to send a message out to them. Unlike the majority of the lyrics out on the market today, Rap contains meaning and it sends a message to the fans. Possibly that's the reason the youth are attracted to it, they can relate to the lyrics of the song.

Rap has been place into a negative light by the mass media. It is not right to blame crimes and violence to rap. Every person is accountable for his own actions. Music should not be blamed for violent crimes. Remember other events that involve youth and violence. If the news could link it to rap in even the most remote opportunity, they would. Contrary to the stereotypical images often associated with rap music such as sex, drugs, assault and money, there are musicians who contribute lyrically in a positive manner. Their songs have musical content that promotes pride and social-consciousness. Rap music provided a generation with another method of artistic expression. It can be considered as urban story-telling and allows youth to tell stories in another way, so that they may be noticed.

Hip hop music isn't a trend which is going to disappear like disco. Many people adore the world that rappers portray and they love good music whatever the lyrics are saying. Everybody wants to offer the bling bling, fancy cars with spinners and 20" rims, and big homes that artists often rap about. Also rap also causes a lot of trends, like the rise in popularity of Air Force One's made by Nike, throwback jerseys, 20" rims, platinum teeth, diamond earrings, and the list can go on and on. Gangster rap is popular because it is very versatile and isn't just in one category, also it is part of the hip-hop culture and a lot of folks live their life like that.

Hip Hop is a huge subject on its own right. Linking to its fashion equal would mean speaking a little about its history, its meaning and how the clothing actually fit man and his soul. Naturally, with such a remarkable and colourful history like that, Hip Hop's fashion and style undoubtedly tell of a deeper story, an expression of inner type and one's identity and what he or she represents.

Street music's influence is all over the place: fashion, dance, fine art, television and specifically other forms of music. Street music fashion contains oversized chains and watches. These are seen street music artists were the first to don huge, expensive chains in their music videos and live shows.
