Siddharth Malhotra to play Abhimanyu Singh, a righteous and ambitious youngster in Student of the Year

The music for Karan Johar's fifth directorial venture Student of the Year" has been turning heads ever since the first promo of The Disco Song was unveiled on the 28th of August, 2012. With the soundtrack for the film being unveiled on the 31st August, the audiences have been hooked on to the movie's music, including songs like Ratta Maar", Kukkad", Vele" and the final track Mashup of the Year" " an innovative mix of all the songs in the album. Music for this Karan Johar film was composed by Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Ravjiani, with lyrics by Anvita Dutt Guptan.

In the film, Siddharth Malhotra will play the role of Abhimanyu Singh, and independent and virtuous boy seeking a better footing in life. Unlike his co-actors Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan, Siddharth has no filmy background and his performance in the upcoming film is expected to grab a load of attention. Alia Bhatt hails from a family rooted deep in tinsel-town and is the daughter of director-producer-screenwriter Mahesh Bhatt. Varun Dhawan on the other hand is the son of director David Dhawan. Given the fact that acting wasn't a family trade, Siddharth Malhotra, the son of Dr. Rajeev Malhotra and Leena Malhotra, has labored tremendously to make himself screen-ready.

In Student of the Year, Siddharth plays the role of Abhimanyu Singh, a young adult hailing from a middle-class family based in Delhi. A state-level runner and a brilliant student, Abhimanyu's ambitious nature gives him a competitive edge. This in turn makes him a natural leader, staying ahead of his peers. A slow and soothing number with Shekhar Ravjiani, Salim Merchant, Neeti Mohan on vocals, the song has minimal music and is an easy-listen. Complete with a guitar strumming in the back, the song also has string melody and romantic lyrics good enough to melt your heart. Neeti Mohan's vocals work as the icing on the cake for the song, making it all the more pleasant to listen to. Also, this song adds variety to an otherwise thumpy soundtrack for Karan Johar's Student of the Year.

Student of the Year will pave the way to a long and fulfilling career for Siddharth Malhotra, who is one of the most promising newcomers debuting on the silver screen. The actor has also been reported to have been offered a two-film deal by Karan Johar's producer-pal, Ekta Kapoor. The rumor of the non-exclusive contract hasn't been confirmed by the actor or the producer however.Catch Karan Johar's Student of the Year in theaters on the 19th of October, 2012.
