Love him or loathe him (although i dont know how anyone could loathe him) he has a point. Jahmene believes that the US talent show American Idol would be a much better fit for him than X-factor, because it is concerned with vocal ability and not looks and popularity.
Despite starting the audition process as a painfully shy 21 year old, Jahmene has flourished on our screens over the past weeks to the point where he is now confident in speaking out against the show that bought him to global attention.
And his mentor Gary Barlow completely concurs with his point of view, commenting that: "Im often jealous when i watch the US shows as our singers never seem to be as good as theirs - until Jahmene came along that is".
But Jahmene is the first to admit that had it not been for the show's procedures inviting him to attend one of the audition's after hearing one of songs on Youtube and believing that he would be a good fit for the show, then he would probably have never had the courage to audition.
But you have to take the rough with the smooth sometimes - a fact which Jahmene fully acknowledges - in his admittance that had he not been invited to audition by producers for the show - who heard him by chance on Youtube - then he would have never had the courage to put himself forward.
In the last show Jahmene topped the digital spy best singer poll for the first time - following on from his second place finish last week - after taking over 31% of the votes for his cover version of Beyonce's 'Listen' from the hit movie 'Dreamgirls'.
They say that today's news is tomorrow's fish and chip paper, and nowhere is this more true than in the world of reality TV, where almost none of the contestants survive in the public mind for more than a few days after the show has ended. But there are the occasional few who live on in the memory, and only a brave person would bet against Jahmene joining that elusive club.
But aside from whether or not anyone will remember his name this time next year, let's just hope that the show and the incredible exposure that he has received over these past weeks has done nothing to distort or corrupt his world view, and that he is still able to keep his feet planted on solid ground.
