The Black, White And Green Turban And Turbans All Over The World

There is a variety of different styles of turban that you can buy that can be used for different reasons. They also come in a range of symbolic colors. In Islam people often wear a black, white or green turban. Turban's were worn thousands of years ago and the first recorded use was during the Byzantine period.

Turbans are also called pagris, dastars and bulles in many parts of the world. It is a long piece of cloth that has been wound over the head. Turban's are usually worn by men according to different customs and traditions. People can be found wearing turbans in Africa, India, South and Central Asia and the Middle East.

Most people in the western world automatically think of the Sikh turbans, as many people of the Sikh religion live in the West. Sikhism originated from India as a break-off group of Hinduism. It is in many ways a mixture of Islam and Hinduism, and the religion has rejected the caste system of Hinduism. Sikh turbans are known as dastars and it is mandatory for Sikhs to wear one.

People of Central and South Asia, The Middle East and in the Sikh religion wind their turbans around their head every time they put it on. A turban's cloth can be up to 5 meters in length. In South Asia there are some types of turbans that are pre-wound and placed on the head without tying. The turban's size is dependent on cultural and religious observations.

The Akurinu Christian people of Kenya where turbans for religious reasons, and they are white in Color. They tie their turbans in a very distinct way that results in a sharp point at the top. The cloth they use is starched making it white.

The turban is a major factor in the national dress of Afghanistan, and they are worn more here than anywhere else in the Muslim world. There is a wide variety of styles and colors of Afghan turbans, and they are wrapped loosely and often sit very large upon the wearers head; however, in Kabul the turbans are usually smaller and are wrapped tighter. Afghan Turbans also have practical uses, for example people may use them against the cold, as a mat to sit down on, and tying up animals.

In India turbans are known as a pagri. Pagri is only worn my males and they tie them themselves. There is a variety of styles according to the religion and region of the wearer. They also have various shapes, sizes and colors. In Indian culture a pagri represents respect and honor and they are often offered to important guests at special occasions. The different colors of pagri accord to specific symbolism. For example a white pagri symbolizes with peace and are often worn by elders. The saffron colored pagri symbolizes valor and these are often worn during rallies. Pink pagri's symbolize the spring and are worn during this season, as well as at marriage ceremonies.

Rastafarian people of the Bobi Shanti Mansion movement wear red, gold and green turban over their dreadlocks. Is is so they are kept clean and protected from the elements. Turbans are a very common article of clothing that is worn in many places around the globe. It remains a very important aspect of a wide variety of cultures and religions in many parts of the world.
