UK Celebrities : 2011's Most Written About People

By Mark Walters

We have long been interested in the lives of celebrities and this year has been no different. So, when it comes to UK celebrities, who are some of the most written about people of 2011? Well, one of them has to be Cheryl Cole, who seems to have the paparazzi following her wherever she goes, making her one of the most famous faces in the country. The interest over her role in the X Factor has been particularly intense lately and now everyone is waiting to see what happens next.

Kate Middleton became the Duchess of Cambridge when she married Prince William (see below) on 29th April and she has been widely talked about ever since. You might expect this of a future queen but her sister Pippa Middleton has also been making headlines. Both of them are widely written about in all sections of the media and the attention only seems to be growing as time passes so expect to hear more about them in the coming months and years.

Now we turn to the world of sport and Wayne Rooney. He has been widely talked about for the past several years and 2011 is no different, making his inclusion on this list somewhat inevitable as he has long been written about in many forms of media. Lately, his decision to have a hair transplant has been the focus of much of the discussion. Allegedly, he got it done because he'd had enough of his teammates teasing him about his hairline and speculation about the whole thing has been rife.

Another frequenter of the British media is Simon Cowell, sometimes called TV's Mr. Nasty. He has been in the news this year due to confusion over whether or not he'd be judging the UK X Factor and also the fact he got the aforementioned Cheryl Cole a role on the US version of the show only for her to be sacked not long after. This has led to quite a bit of controversy and has ensured that his long reign as a talked-about celebrity won't be ending any time soon.

Finally, we come to Prince William. As a prominent member of the royal family and a future monarch, he has long been a popular celebrity for the media to write about, but this year his fame has reached new heights as he married Catherine (Kate) in front of millions of people. He also frequently makes headlines in his role as an RAF search and rescue helicopter pilot and the work he does as a member of the royal family - his star seems set to shine for ages yet.
